$40/hour We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our team in Waterville, MaineThe School Social Worker will play a crucial role in supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-beingWorking closely with students, families, and school staff, the School Social Worker will provide essential counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy servicesThe ideal candidate should be empathetic, approachable, and skilled in addressing various social and emotional challenges faced by studentsMust have:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or conditional (LCSW-cc), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or conditional (LCPC-C)2 years of social work, section 28 experience preferred Knowledge of BHP supervision Knowledge of MaineCare Section 28 assessments, ITP preparation, and ITP reviewsKnowledge of positive behavior support plans and behavior programming Experience working with students working within a school settingKnowledge of child and adolescent development
Responsibilities:
Counseling and Support:
Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challengesCollaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement intervention strategies tailored to students' needsCrisis Intervention:
Offer immediate support and crisis intervention to students experiencing emotional distress, abuse, or other crisis situationsWork closely with school staff and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate assistance during critical incidentsAdvocacy and Collaboration:
Advocate for students' rights and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environmentLiaise with community resources and organizations to provide additional support and services to students and familiesAssessment and Planning:
Conduct social and emotional assessments to identify students' strengths and challengesDevelop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with social and emotional needsPrevention and Education:
Facilitate workshops and programs on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and mental health awarenessWork proactively to prevent social and emotional issues by promoting a positive and respectful school cultureDocumentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, interventions, and student progressPrepare reports and documentation as required by school policies and regulations
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institutionState licensure as a School Social Worker in MaineStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and colleaguesExperience working with diverse student populations and understanding of cultural competencyKnowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to social work in an educational settingExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentKnowledge of community resources and services available to students and familiesWhy Contract with Spindle?
