Summary:
Develops, implements, and manages Alcom's Quality Management System for manufacturing and final inspection processes to produce various aluminum trailers.
The position involves oversight of multiple plant locations.
Works with Production and Engineering to define and establish quality assurance processes, instructions, and quality control inspection criteria and processes.
The position involves material inspection, weld and metal fabrication, assembly processes, and finished trailer inspection processes, focusing on workmanship and meeting customer order specifications.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND
Responsibilities:
Manages quality assurance processes by working closely with Engineering and Production.
Manages quality control inspection processes.
Trains and provides performance feedback to all Quality Inspectors and Warranty Administrators.
Develop and document a Quality Assurance Plan that appropriately defines the proper construction build process for various build and assembly applications.
Develop and document a Warranty Claims Plan that appropriately defines procedures and expectations.
Creates a QC best practice for final inspection and pass or fail definition for meeting desired quality standards.
Works closely with Production Management to develop a Quality Control Plan for inspecting workmanship and customer product specifications.
Works closely with the Warranty Department and warranty claims processing and reports and interprets warranty claim data and trending concerns.
Coordinates, tracks, and communicates Quality Key Performance Indicators to shop floor personnel and production management and identifies the cause of poor quality.
Creates prevention plans for reoccurring issues and concerns.
Provides a multi-plant leadership role for all quality-related matters.
Assures that all plant training includes the necessary elements supporting quality and warranty processes throughout plant operations.
Assures compliance with regulatory agencies that support required safety standards for trailers.
Qualifications:
Quality assurance knowledge - extensive familiarity with quality assurance processes and procedures, and should be able to devise methods to enforce quality standards.
Team leadership skills - effective team leadership is key in this role as they manage teams of quality assurance personnel and direct their activities.
Communication skills - should possess strong written and verbal communication skills to develop employee manuals and communicate across departments.
Problem-solving skills - effective problem-solving is also essential in this role, and should be able to assess quality issues and develop functional solutions.
Process management and enhancement - identifies opportunities to improve departmental processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field.
10 or more years of quality management experience within a manufacturing or construction environment.
5 years of supervising and managing direct reports desired.
Lean Manufacturing experience desired.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
CAD print reading skill experience desired.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
